Initially I came to yoga for the physical aspect of the practice but it is the benefit to both my physical and mental health that made me fall in love with yoga, particularly noticing a reduction in social anxiety and overthinking once I started to practice regularly, moving my body really did free my mind.
My personal yoga practice is whatever feels good in my body that day. I tend to practise slowly and mindfully when I am alone and like to attend a range of different classes, dynamic classes such as Vinyassa and Ashtanga and I love a restorative yoga session.
I have a special interest in teaching Yoga for stress relief and mental health. My teaching style is influenced by my personal practice and tends to be a slower flow, based around physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I like to work up to a peak pose and love the challenge of a balance and if we fall out, we try again!
I used to have this perception that I had to be good at yoga to go to a yoga class, that I would stick out like a sore thumb because I couldn’t touch my toes let alone do a handstand! I have learnt that this is not the case and that yoga really is for every body.
My classes are relaxed, we learn in a judgement free environment - learn about our bodies, learn about our minds, wobble around, laugh, breathe and rest.
I hope you can join me on the mat soon.
I found my way to Yoga in 2016 when I was grieving the loss of my parents. The practice of mindful movement and breath helped me to ground and reconnect with myself when I felt adrift; it became my anchor and helped me to navigate through my grief to find acceptance and joy in life again.
I continued to attend classes and workshops, and completed beginner’s and next level courses, which set the foundations for developing a more consistent yoga practice. I am so grateful to my teachers for their guidance and insight. Inspired to learn more about how this ancient eastern practice can support us to live a whole-hearted life,
I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Heather Yoga in 2023. Through this immersive study, I found that yoga is so much more than the physical practice – it is a holistic self-care system of practices and observances that provides tools, skills and principles for nourishing the whole self through movement, meditation and breathwork.
I teach from a place of loving-kindness, and it’s my passion to share the health and wellbeing benefits of yoga with you.
In my Slow Flow classes I will guide you through mindful sequences, moving with the breath, enabling self-inquiry, encouraging playfulness, and supporting you to reconnect while building strength and finding balance in both body and mind. I have a trauma-informed approach to holding space for you to explore, discover, and find inner peace during times of stress and beyond.
